Ribbit's
Big Splash, a multimedia CD-ROM, introduces students to various aspects of water
resources in four different environments: ponds, rivers, wetlands, and gulf. Each site
contains a "story" with pedagogical content, a related educational game, a
"zoom" area for exploration, school and home projects which encourage
exploration beyond the classroom, and a "hot word" glossary which clarifies the
meanings of new or technical words. In addition, there are interactive "facts"
which explore interesting scientific phenomena such as the Gulf Coast Jubilee. The CD also
contains an illustrated glossary of concepts discussed in the program. The goal of Ribbit's
Big Splash is to make learning fun and worthwhile. |
| A
value-added feature of Ribbit's Big Splash is a 30-page
activity book and crossword puzzle. In the activity book, students record data
and answer questions related to each site. To
